A small delegation from The Carter Center will visit Nicaragua during the upcoming presidential and legislative elections in Nicaragua on Nov. 6. The delegation of five persons consists of members and advisers to the group of Friends of the Inter-American Democratic Charter, an informal group of eminent persons from the hemisphere, with secretariat at The Carter Center in Atlanta, Ga., who advocate for constructive international support to strengthen all democracies in the hemisphere.
The delegation seeks to understand the perspectives of various social and political actors, including those contending for elected positions, about the electoral process and post-electoral scenarios for Nicaragua. It will prepare a report on the political climate, perceptions of the actors, and scenarios for Nicaragua moving forward, for the Friends of the Democratic Charter and other interested persons in the international community.
The delegation will not serve as election observers nor seek credentials under Nicaragua's Election Accompaniment Regulation to access voting sites, and therefore will not be in a position to evaluate the voting process itself.

Grupo del Centro Carter visitará Nicaragua durante las elecciones
del 6 de noviembre
Una pequeña delegación del Centro Carter visitará Nicaragua durante las elecciones presidenciales y legislativas del próximo 6 de noviembre. La delegación de cinco personas estará conformada por miembros y asesores del grupo de Amigos de la Carta Democrática Interamericana, un grupo informal de personalidades del hemisferio cuya secretaría está en el Centro Carter en Atlanta, que promueven la cooperación internacional para el fortalecimiento de la democracia en el hemisferio.
La delegación procurará conocer los puntos de vista de diversos actores sociales y políticos, incluyendo a aquellos postulados a cargos de elección popular, acerca del proceso electoral y escenarios postelectorales para Nicaragua. Los miembros de la delegación prepararán un informe para los Amigos de la Carta y otros actores interesados de la comunidad internacional, sobre el clima político, las percepciones de los actores, y las perspectivas para el desarrollo de Nicaragua.
La delegación no hará observación electoral ni solicitará credenciales bajo el Reglamento para el Acompañamiento Electoral para acceder a los centros y juntas receptoras de votos, y consecuentemente no podrá hacer una valoración del proceso de votación.
